Meet Maeva

My path as a mindfulness birthing educator and doula began in 2009, when I first trained as a hypnotist. I was deeply drawn to helping women release fear and pain around childbirth, and quickly saw how hypnosis could be a powerful tool for birth preparation. In 2012, I became a certified HypnoBirthing® practitioner, training directly with founder Marie Mongan, and began teaching classes while supporting births as a doula.

After attending my best friend’s long and painful birth in 2013, I felt called to deepen my skills in pain management and long labors. I trained with Penny Simkin, one of the leading educators in natural childbirth and founder of DONA, to bring a stronger layer of advocacy and comfort measures to the families I supported.

Still, I sensed something was missing. Many of the challenges my clients faced stemmed not only from fear or mindset, but also from the baby’s position in labor. This realization led me to train with Gail Tully, founder of Spinning Babies®, becoming a certified educator in 2018. Integrating positioning techniques into my teaching and doula work has been transformative for families preparing for smoother, more straightforward births.

During Covid, I took the time to refine and clarify my curriculum — weaving together everything I had learned over the years: hypnobirthing, mindfulness, childbirth education, and Spinning Babies® practices. I also drew from my own personal births and postpartum experiences and my 20+ years of yoga and meditation practice.

The result is a comprehensive class called Confident Birth — from childbirth education, fear release, coping tethniques and partner involvement, to postpartum recovery — all designed to help you feel calmer and more confident as you welcome your baby.

I now teach Confident Birth Classes in NYC and support families as a doula. My teaching and client work focus on:

  • Releasing fear and reframing beliefs about birth
  • Preparing the mind through hypnosis, meditation, and mindfulness
  • Preparing the body for birth with posture, movement, and positioning
  • Partner strategies for support and advocacy
  • Tools for labor progress and pain relief

Every class and session is designed to help you feel informed, supported, and confident!
